Welding Competitions Increase Opportunities to Find Job
A lot of colleges aim to provide students with skills that would help them get a real job and money to live on. That is why a lot of competitions are held to compare the skills of students that may be hired within several months. Seniors and juniors from McCann Technical School in North Adams, MA participated in a competition called the Notch Mechanical Constructors Pipe Welding Bend Off.
Students could take part in these challenges and prove their professionalism by providing excellent real-world benefits. At the same time, students were so inspired that they worked night shifts to get best results. Their results will be checked by certified inspectors. Inspectors will examine the works of all the students as is if they did the job in the field. Welding pipes is the main focus of this competition and the main task is to weld the perfect pipe.
The rewards of this competition are awesome and the winner will get the prize of $500. In addition, the welding school will get $500 for spending it on supplies. The first five winners will be able to get tool packages that may include gloves, helmets and wrenches. Bend testing will also be included and those students who pass it will get certification in a level of welding. Once they finish their welding courses, they will have an advantage when entering the workforce.
The mentioned competition was fist held about 17 years ago and the main mission of it is to attract attention of students to pipe welding. It is one of the most difficult types of welding and those students that will show great results will be in demand in the job market of the United States. Besides, these skilled welders will be getting higher wages in comparison to those that have just graduated from the college.
