Kilgore College Receives Grant of $75,000 for Future Welders
Nowadays, a lot of attention is paid to the problem of the shortage of professional welders. A lot of companies and other organizations take part in developing new institutions for teaching skilled welders. Today, Students from Kilgore College received the grant of $75,000 and at the same time, two new educational buildings were opened today. The Kilgore Economic Development Corp. Advanced Technology Center and the Kilgore College Advanced Welding Academy will invite young people to get the wanted education and to find their place in life.
The community has made a great achievement in covering the shortage in professional welders and it deserves the money received. A lot of other centers are getting prepared for certain development in this sphere and they work on plans of new training centers that will help students get the knowledge they need, but Kilgore College has managed to complete this work already. It could be one of the most successful examples for other colleges on how to attract more students and get the funds for further development.
Students of Kilgore College will have a facility of 18,000-square-foot to get and to improve their skills in welding. Thanks to a lease agreement, Kilgore College managed to open the Advanced Welding Academy which increases the capacity of the education establishment by nearly three times. Kilgore College appears to be one of the best facilities for future welders and after a welding program that endures 6 months, a newly born welder is immediately hired.
A welder has a choice to choose the industry where to start the carrier. At the same time, this academy may become a place where retired welders will have an opportunity to share their experience and skills with students. Besides, after graduation, a welder can earn 25$-35$ an hour which will turn a young specialist into a reliable breadwinner.
