Improving Welding Skills in Simulated Environment

Young people that are going to study Technology, Science, Engineering and Math have received another opportunity to get the needed preparation for a future career. The thing is that Delta College in Michigan, received a donation from the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation and thanks to this money, it is going to buy VRTEX Welding Training Systems for about for $160,000.

The officials working at Delta College confirm the increased need in new equipment for students that are participating in a welding technology program. Besides, the college has an agreement with business owners that help students receive STERM education all over the area. It should be noticed that it is not the first grant provided by the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation and last year, the college received $4 million for promoting STEM initiatives.

Thanks to the latest grant, the promotion of welding and SERM education will be much easier. The thing is all the needed equipment will be carried by a 38-foot STEM Explorer vehicle and students will have a chance to use the modern tools during community events devoted to STEM education. The equipment installed will help students train and engage and at the same time, it will evaluate the skills of them. It is a great achievement when students can apply their knowledge and train their skills in a simulated environment.

The mission of this training is to reduce material waste while using high quality skills. Delta College is going to buy this vehicle within one month and the main idea is not only to apply the skills received during the education but to be more creative in relation to projects. As a result, students will not only get engaged in traditional training but will be able to try something new and to broaden their skills extensively.
