ESAB Presents Portable Plasma Cutting System
ESAB Cutting Systems presented Crossbrow, a portable oxy-fuel/plasma cutting system that has an integrated CNC. The machine’s weight and size make it easy to transport where you need it. Its simple CNC and automated functions make the machine versatile. It is ideal for small fabrication shops, trade schools, and repair and maintenance shops. It is portable enough to be brought to construction sites and around a large facility.
Crossbow has an integrated CNC that removes the need for the user to add a controller to the cutting system. It has user-friendly interface that makes operating the system easy to learn. There’s no need for additional training. It has a library of 24 common shapes that reduces the setup time. Dimensions of the shapes can be edited to create custom ones without programming. The CNC utilizes G and M Code programming. Offline programmed NC files can be transferred to the machine with the use of a USB connection. Operators can easily set up a step-and-repeat pattern or load new set of shapes via the USB port.
The CNC is fully integrated into the Crossbow and has several advanced functions that would simplify cutting operations such as Arc-Voltage Height Control, automatic plate check, automatic process sequencing, and kerf compensation. Feed rates can be adjusted any time and the programming capabilities include automatic return to start and nested loops.
Crossbow has a motorized lifter and allows users to use either plasma or oxy-fuel torches. It has an Arc Voltage Height Control feature that keeps the plasma torch maintain a consistent cutting height. It also features an Ohmic touch initial height sensing that locates the plate surface and sets the piercing height during plasma cutting. The Crossbow also detects torch crashes during the cutting process and shuts down the system right away. It has a cutting oxygen solenoid valve that lets automatic cutting when an oxy-fuel torch is used.
