Aircraft Repairs Require Strict Quality Control of Welding
There are different spheres where welding is needed and some welders are engaged in providing weld repairs to aircraft. Dealing with aircraft, welders need to use such types of welding as tungsten, gas metal arc and plasma arc. With the help of specific equipment, they need to reach the weld quality similar to original. This welding process starts with defining the type of welding is used and metals that need to be joint.
Any welder that is going to be engaged in aircraft welding is required to have aerospace welding certification. The quality control of welding is really strict and is performed after each weld. It is supposed to be checked for any defects and to be approved. Aircraft welders need to know three types of welding but welding is mostly performed by turning two pieces of material into one with the help of melting the edges of them.
Brazing:
Aerospace brazing is rather similar to welding and joining materials is achieved with the help of melting a brazing rod which does not need a high temperature. After the weld is done, welders need to cool the materials which makes the weld solid and hard to break.
Soldering:
Another type of welding is called soldering which is similar to brazing but the temperature of welding is really low. Any professional welder will need to choose the equipment to use and the filler that will be melted to join the materials.
To perform any welding process, the two parts need to be clean and fitted. If there are any defective welds, they need to be removed. There are different companies that provide the services and most of them cannot rely on the third parties. That is why they have their own certification tests that can be carried out in their own testing labs.
