Welding Rodeo to Be Held in Hazard

October 23 is the day when the first welding rodeo will be held. The event will take place in Hazard where three teams of welders will meet to show their welding skills and to consider which of them the best is. The task may seem to be simple as the welding teams will have eight hours to build a work of art out of a heap of metal parts.

Every one interested in this rodeo is invited to learn more about this manufacturing process and to take the decision on the future career. Sculptures that are going to be created will be devoted to the theme of the Welding Rodeo which is “River Creatures.” The winners of this Rodeo will get a cash prize presented by Hazard Community and Technical College. The competition will start at 8 a.m. straight with the airhorn sound. It will also finish half an hour before the announcement of the winners.

The jury will need this time for assessing the creatures and taking the decision. Such competitions are a good stimulation for those who are indecisive about their career. The teams that are going to participate in the rodeo take part in welding programs of HCTC and Technical College. But, students will have a chance to compete with real artists. The thing is that one of the teams will be community based and include local artists.

Welding Rodeo Winners

The only mission of this event is to increase an interest in welding among young people and to form more welding teams in the coming year. Those people who will visit the show will have a chance to enjoy snacks. Moreover, the winner will be chosen according to the votes collected during the show. Visitors will get access to information on existing welding programs and possible jobs they can get.
