Machining and Welding Program Gets National Recognition

Montana might not be known as one of the major manufacturing hubs in the United States but one of its high schools was recognized for its specially designed technical vocation programs. Capital High School offer machining and welding classes made the high school part of the Prime Schools for the year by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Michael Selva, one of the seniors in Machining, said that there is a high school in Montana that is recognized for delivering world class education that is taught by a qualified professional and utilize advanced technology. Jim Weber, one of the instructors, said that the organization is giving the welding and machining program ten thousand dollars over the next three years.

Weber added that it is vital to keep t heir manufacturing facilities up to data in order to prepare their students for job opportunities in welding, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and machining. The school wants to provide its students with great careers and having the award as well as the latest equipment are just pieces of the puzzles. Their goal is to give their students a good seed in order to have fruitful careers in the future.

Weber said that the recognition and the funding will benefit the students, along with equipment and partnerships with major corporate manufacturing firms. The current students of the high school are excited about their future.

Kreston Stevens, a senior in Machining, said that they are getting more funding for better equipment and they can make better projects in the future. The future students of the school will have cool stuff to work with. Another senior said that future generations will have better tools and able to advance to their skills better than the current generation. They are happy that they are given the opportunity that are not found anywhere else in the state.
