Girls Gets Introduced to Welding and They Like it

Thanks to the Fox Valley Technical College Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center, 4200 Poberezny Road Oshkosh, WI   girls from high schools received a chance to get welding training. The training took place in one of the welding training camps where 20 young ladies tried their strength in welding projects.

The summer camp lasted one week during which they had an opportunity to learn more information on fabrication, software and the associated machinery. Thanks to the great interest of students, the enrollment appeared to be fully filled. The main mission of the camp is to engage girls into activities they have never been faced to. The secondary mission is to show those girls different career paths that they can take and it is not just welding that they can choose in future.

The first days, the girls were engaged in welding tables and most of them appeared to be inspired by the process and wanted to continue the training. Some of the girls are sure that welding may be a good career for them as they do not want to spend hours sitting in front of a computer. Trainers are really surprised at the results of this camp as they see the intention of girls to get an engineering degree for welding.

Besides, there is a great need in girls in the fields where men are only engaged. Some of trainers consider that the appearance of girls in any team of welders will bring some positive effects such as team playing, critical thinking and competition.

There is no doubt that the contribution of boys is great but girls can bring something different and more creative thinking in the process of welding can be presented. Besides, the amount of money they can earn working as a welder attracts them as well. If you have not decided what career to choose, you need to try something different like welding and it can turn into your life style.
