Calumet Welding Center Tries to Cover Demand for Welders
It is estimated that the need for welders will be growing and about 199,000 welders will be needed to cover the jobs that may appear after retirement of the current generation. The Calumet Welding Center (CWC) is a newly constructed facility located in Griffith, IN created to serve the training needs for the public and various local companies in the welding industry. CWC is trying hard to provide producers and manufacturers with skilled workers but now it seems impossible.
The mission of the center is to train welders to work in different fields. At present, young people that are interested in becoming welders may participate in two different programs to become a skilled welder. Thanks to technical classroom instructions and a lot of hours of hands-on shop training, young people turn to be really experienced and ready to become ironworkers, boilermakers as well as sheet metal workers.
The reputation of the center is rather high but its capacity to train newcomers is not so high as it can only reach 100 students a year. Now, the center is ready to train a number of full instructors that could train students during the night. Welders that graduate from this center are demanded in the job market and a lot of manufacturers consider this educational center to be an elite trainer of welders right now.
Due to the increased demand for welders, a lot of other schools appear but the Calumet Welding Center stays one of the most reputable institutions that help the industries get qualified welders. A lot of young people do not know about the demand in this sphere of business and promotion of certain education is needed. Welders may earn a lot of money and in some areas they can get $27.45 per hour. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics confirms this information and getting a job as a welder may be a great start in life for any young person.
